Welcome to the Hood

The neighborhood
(that is)
Land of 1000 mosquitoes
(seriously I have bites all over me)

So our housing development is call Kickingbird
(remember folks our house is from the 80's)
Which I can not say with out using my
'Dancing with Wolves' accent
kick-king burd
Apparently I can't type it without
saying out loud in the accent either
It never gets old
Mark and I crack up every time we drive into the subdivision
As soon as we turn on the street
we say it
and we laugh

We live in a cul-de-sac
which we love
We can let the kids ride their toys
without too much fear

This is the house next door
We can see the drive and this truck from several windows
After about a week of living here
Mark said "that truck hasn't moved
Wonder if they are dead"
So we started with the stories...
grabbed the poison instead of the creamer for the morning coffee
drank to much and passed out in the bathtub
you get the idea

Then the lady from the other side of this house came over
With some very yummy cookies
She told us the lady in said house died
WHOOPS
So that house is empty
The lady who came over, has grown kids

On the other side of us is someones great grandparents
If the Cadillac and Grand Marque in the drive weren't clue enough
Then the walker that is by the front door should be
But Mark has talked to them once when he was doing yard work
OLD!!!!
We met the other neighbors the other day when the boys were playing
They have grand kids from 2-16

Across the street, college age kids and older
 Point is.....
we won't be sitting in the drive way with neighbors watching the kiddos play in the street
No more white trash Memorial Day festivities out front with next door neighbors

Maybe, hopefully
When the house next door goes on the market
A younger family will move in

But we do have trees
Lots of trees!!
The kids have been bugging me for a pool all summer
But with the move I have not purchased one
Last weekend on 1 of my 3 trips to Target
I grabbed a Toy Story pool
It had gone on clearance for $7
Love me a bargain

It looked much bigger on the box

But again for $7
who's complaining
It even came with water guns that you connect the hose too
Super fun
Until they turn the water guns on you
We could actually handle the heat because of all those trees
Dare I say...
you were right Mark

Nah, I won't really say it
But it was bearable

This is a really cool house in the hood
If you can tell in this photo
That is a bridge from the garage to the house
Kind of cool
And this yard is nothing but trees
(out front anyway)

And more randomness......
-Yesterday was registration for Connor's pre-K through the school district
Sunday night I went to get all my paperwork together
and we could not find his birth certificate
I was devastated
Mark got up and drove to Dallas to get another one
I had him signed up by 3pm
What a husband
What a DAD!!!

-We go back next week to meet the teacher and find out if we have afternoon or morning class
-I am pretty sure I overheard one of the ladies in the front office say there was only afternoon classes left
**THAT SUCKS**
-I had my whole day worked out in my head for morning classes
I would have 1 on 1 time with Colton
Then in the afternoon while Colton slept I would have 1 on1 time with Connor

-Now I have to rethink my plan
-Guess this means no more naps for Connor

-I found the boys a pediatrician
-We ordered the carpet for the basement
and it should be installed in the next couple weeks

-Mark's 40th birthday is next week
-Need ideas so please share with me your thoughts

-I have been wondering if my boys would benefit more if I went back to work
Maybe the summer has just been too long

-We are headed to DFW in less than 2 weeks for a birthday party
Can not wait to see some FRIENDS!!!

Update

So we survived moving 'out' day. It took the movers 10 hours to load our stuff. You know what that tells me? That we have too much stuff.
Holy Toledo

We spent the night in the empty house that night. The boys slept on the floor and Mark and I used the blow up bed, with Precious of course. She just makes herself a spot right away. God love her! The next day the carpet cleaners came and the maid. Mark took care of that while I whisked the boys off for one final playdate. We were in OKC by dinner time.

I decided to embrace the town. You know, take the plunge, jump in with both feet (or however the saying goes). Edmond has a week long celebration for the 4th called Liberty Fest. It is actually ranked one of the top places to be in the country for the holiday. On Friday was "chalk it up".
Don't know if you can see it in the above pic, but the kids are each in a parking space for the chalk contest

You could enter the sidewalk chalk coloring contest. We did not enter but went to watch. There was face painting and snow cones, a jump house. Just a few little things for the kiddos. It was fun. It made me feel good.

Saturday we went to the parade.

The whole town was there. Watching my 3 kids sit on the edge of the sidewalk (ok so just 2 of them were doing this) waving their little American flags really hit home for me.

It's not like we couldn't have done something like this in Dallas, but it, too, was a nice feeling. It reminded me of the parade scene from that movie, "Sleeping with the Enemy", with Julia Roberts. Is that the right one?
Anyway, the parade was a bit cheesy but the hometown feeling was there.
And watching a July 4th parade in 75degree weather is nice too. That was not an OKC thing, but a mother nature thing. It rained most of the weekend. It kept us from going to the festivities and fire works the following evening.
This was one of the silly entries in the parade, a bunch of old guys on 3 wheelers. I could not stop laughing at them. I am already putting together my dad's 4 wheeler routine for next year. He's WAY better than them!!!

I have always thought I wanted to raise my family in a smaller town like where I grew up. I certainly believe Edmond is that town. But now that I am there/here, I am second guessing myself. Am I too used to larger towns/suburbs. It's not like I lived in the city. I made a comment to Mark that I felt like I could leave the keys in the car or not lock the door in Edmond. He says he feels like he lives in a "far, far, far, north, north, north suburb of Dallas". Is that good or bad. How should one read into that comment?

But we did go to the zoo. Mark had not been yet, and since it was so cool, we took advantage. We went ahead and got our membership. There is still so much of it to explore.

She is my new favorite gorilla. We have the same matching saggy boobs. I will visit her every time I go. I have decided to call her Big Mamma, like me.

And even with the cooler weather, the bears were playing in the water.
The boys got a kick out of that

We close tomorrow morning on the new house. We needed to get a cashiers check for the closing from our bank so I came back to Dallas to do that. We had some hotel points so I decided to stay the night and get a couple of playdates out of it. I think Mark was itching to get rid of us....2 adults, 3 boys, 2 dogs, 4 days of rain, and 700 square feet do not make a good combination.

This is one of our playdates
Lots of Fun

And I decided to give all 3 boys a bath together. I haven't really put Christian in with the big boys yet, but I was short on time and patience at the hotel, so I did.
And my sister is probably gagging right now at the thought of them sitting down in a hotel bath tub, but Sissy, it was fast. I washed their bottoms last and the got right out.
I SWEAR!!!

We stayed at the 'hotel, motel Holiday Inn'
I cannot say the name of the establishment without singing it like the song
They are usually nothing special, but this one was super nice.
It had a bar and restaurant and a really cool pool area.
This might have to be where I stay when we come back for visits.

OK my friends....keep the Lenzer's in your prayers that closing goes smoothly tomorrow and the movers and our stuff arrives unscathed Friday.
Then the real fun begins for me!!! Lots of unpacking and organizing to do. And I am gonna do it right this time since I am not 9 months pregnant. I never felt settled in our previous home and I know that is why.

Talk to you all soon!!!!

OKC Update

First of all let me say, MY WORD, what is in the air? I am still freaking exhausted!!! I even slept on the couch this morning while the boys played. I know, I know, that was a terrible decision, but I could not hold my eyes open. I am the pregnant kind of tired. But NO that is not the reason, that would be impossible!

So last week Mark came home on Tuesday night to get some papers he needed and then went back to OKC on Wednesday morning and took Connor with him. The other boys, dogs, and I were going to come up on Thursday. But the house was clean and I did not want to mess it up, and secretly I really missed my Connor. So we went up on Wednesday afternoon.

I really should have followed my gut and turned the car around and headed back to Texas because poor Christian had a cough that was getting worse with each hack. But the inspection for Mark's  our new house was Thursday and I really wanted to take another look around and some measurements. I need to get the decorative aspect of things rolling in my head.

So Thursday we went to the inspection, which was fine. Only a few minor things to be fixed. Don't tell, but quietly I was praying for a major issue. It didn't happen, so maybe that was the answer to my prayers? Time to get over it I guess.

By Thursday afternoon, Christian sounded scary. So I called the pediatrician and the nurse told me to have him looked at. Friday morning I started calling around to doctors. I was able to get him into one for the afternoon. But in my attempt to find a Starbucks with WIFI, I drove past a "quack shack" or "doc in a box" and it looked decent. So I went in. So 2 hours, a chest x-ray, and a ton of money later my baby Christian has bronchitis (or so the dr says).

And to make it an even better day, I had decided to drop my truck off at the service place to have the back lift gate fixed, it had gone out a couple of days before. It is so rare that Mark and I are with each other so that I could drive his truck for the day, I thought I'd better take advantage of the situation. So while I was at the doc FOREVA, he and the big boys were waiting on me at YMCA to come and pick them up.

When he finally got home (and by home I mean the apartment he has) from work he told me I needed to head back to Texas ASAP because we had a lease offer on our house. And they want to move in July 1st!!!

I would so rather sell and be done with the stress, but this will work. Then in a year maybe the market will be better and we can not lose money on the deal?! So I am frantically packing, moving up our movers to a sooner date, planning last minute play dates, and shutting off and turning on new services. Or so I am suppose to be. I spent my morning on the couch. But now I am drinking a Coke and hope to get busy PRONTO!!!

And BTW, Christian is still coughing but is a million times better. Except for his still waking up to nurse at night now. I think he got used to it during the few days he could not sleep! Old habits die hard I guess!

So there is my update. I am stressed and scared and nervous and truly sad, but at the same time excited and can't wait for it to be here.

I've got....

Good News, Bad News

Round 1:
The good news
We put an offer on a house in OKC and it was accepted

The bad news
               It was Mark's house

Round 2:
The good news
We had a very interested person/couple for our home here

The bad news
They had crappy credit and could not get approved for a loan

Back to square one on the sale of the current home

Trying very hard to loose my attitude about the OKC home

OK Update

Hey Blogging Peeps....get your prayer on (please)
Our house is still for sale.
We need it sold, like yesterday!
However, I went up to OKC on Thursday so we could house hunt on Friday and Saturday. We have to find a place, now, so we can get the family back together. Plus Mark looses his housing at the end of June.

And house hunt we did
17 houses in 3 hours on Friday
Can you say ti-red?
Then Saturday we went back to see 3 again, plus 2 new ones.
We have it down to 2
 my fave
(my choice, a traditional house with everything we need and a great kitchen)

 and Mark's fave
(a 1980 house that is updated but not an open floor plan but big beautiful trees)

I hate his and he hates mine!
What's a couple to do? Someone is gonna be pissed.

Saturday afternoon we took in the Big 12 Baseball game since OU was playing.
(the down town area is pretty cool and I can't wait to explore it more)

Ya'll know Mark is an OU freak!! He would watch women's bowling if they were from OU. It was hot, and it was baseball (so you do the math)

Luckily there was a playground there

So basically we payed a s**t ton of money to slide for an hour and half
But it was fun and the family time was worth it

In more important news...
Colton pulled his pants up all by himself

What a big boy
and cheek-y

OKC

I am about to load the car, pick up the big boys from pre-school and head to OKC for a couple of days. This is a VERY last minute trip. Wish me luck!!

I am not taking my computer, which is fine because it still SUCKS< but I will try and at least read my favorite blogs from Mark's computer!!

Hope everyone is having a good week!!
