Party Pictures

Superhero Students in Action

Overall the party was a success
I would do it again in a heartbeat
no matter how much I bitched and moaned
Colton had a blast
His buddies from school were still talking about it today
That's what counts

Happy Birthday to my sweet Colton
Can't believe he's 4
now if he would learn the alphabet
and stop pooping his pants

Spidey's Superhero Academy

Then party is over
We I survived
Colton may not have
He went to bed before 5pm
Let's hope that is for the night and not a nap

The party was a blast
I think I had as much fun as the boys
and I won't lie
I felt pretty good about myself
It was a good mamma moment for me

That being said, not sure if it was worth it
I spent WAY too much money
And way too much time

And of course this morning
moments before the arrival time
I realized I had forgotten a child
I had to scram to add a goodie bag
and extra spot at the table
Usually I make very good lists
so crap like this doesn't happen
I'm not sure WTH is going on with me lately

So now on to the photos
And I must say that I can take virtually NO credit here
I found just about every idea off of that stupid website pinterest
But at least I can say I made something from there right?

The Decorations:

I made the banner
and Spidey is a wall decal I ordered from Amazon
he will be transferred to Colton's room and the banner will be put away for next year

A close up of the letters
I think the "N" is upside down
but the glue was already on
They're 4, they barely know the alphabet right?

Colton was so happy when he saw this Spiderman
I got the biggest hug and loving ever
That makes it worth while

My pride and joy was this wreath
And you better bet your bum I will break this baby out for 4th of July
Take off Spiderman and throw on a flag
It is made with cupcake liners
My sister and worked on this together

The Spiderman face on the wreath was the invitation I made
That might have been the only idea that was actually mine

I did Colton's name for decor
Tomorrow I am going to hang them in his room
I painted some letters I got at Hobby Lobby
and then glued comic book pages on the front
So cute and easy
Might make some for the other brothers

During the middle of writing this post my Sweet Colton woke up in tears
I had to take him to the clinic
He has a nasty ear infection
I dropped him off so Mark could lay him down while I waited for his medicine
By the time I got home he was sleeping so hard he would not wake up to take it
Hope he makes through the night with out waking up in too much pain

Tomorrow I will post on the "Academy" portion of the party

Where Have I Gone Wrong

My sweet sweet Colton
My middle child
with the terrible terrible three's

I know it's hard to imagine
the child
with this face
walking around without a halo
but it happens

And it's my fault
It's always the mom's fault right
I see my attitude in him
When you tell him no
for the 42nd time in a row
to stop________
(fill in the blank)
he will scream
and stomp
and hit
it's pretty
REAL PRETTY

I'm frustrated
he's frustrated
I yell
he yells
I don't know what to do with him

I get the attitude
I totally get it
Connor is older
He gets everything new
has friends and cooler toys
Christian is the baby
He gets lots of attention
and holding and rocking
Colton gets the hand-me-downs
and the "in a minute"s
I would be mad too

So yesterday I gave him his own room
Connor and Colton have bunk beds
sharing a room obviously
Christian has his own room
We have a 4th bedroom
but it is on a the bottom level
of our 3 level house
(all the other bedrooms are on 3)
so someone has to share
for the next few years

anyway...
I did some serious furniture moving
I moved the crib to Connor's room
and Colton's bed to his
VERY OWN ROOM
I haven't moved the clothes yet
figured I would test this for a few weeks first

Last night he slept well
He seems pretty excited about his space
I'm thinking this might just be a good idea
Then this afternoon
I told him to go upstairs and change his clothes
(because he peed)
and he locked me out of the house
We had just been coming in from the garage
so I had my keys
then he's upstairs slamming doors

My "way" is not working anymore
I don't know what else to do
He OBVIOUSLY needs attention
do I put him in more school
do I put Christian in MDO
so I can have more time with Colton
more 1 on 1 dates
but how to fit that in
I am at a loss

All I know
what I am doing now
is NOT working

Not in the Mood

To blog that is
Can you tell?
I've been sort of absent
Trying to read but no interest in writing
After taking a little break over Christmas
It's hard to get back into the swing of it
Then with our lovely school schedule
Finding time during the day is difficult
And I am back to being drained by the time the boys are down at 7pm
My brain is mush
Thinking is a big task
Uploading pictures and typing a post....
even BIGGER

So....where to start?

How about with Christian
My baby boy has been sick for almost a month now
I have waisted over $100 on medicine and doctor visits
There seems to be nothing the doctors can do
But the snot keeps coming
and coming
and coming
I don't know why it bothers me so bad
I am not a doctor or medicine kind of person
I have to be 1 foot in the grave before I will see a doctor
But I really thought my boy was sick and needed some help
Yet I got none
Doctors suck!
On a lighter note
Christian got tooth #6
It just barely broke the gum
So now maybe that will help the snots
And he is trying to walk
2 or 3 steps here or there
I have not been rushing him
I am trying to keep him baby as long as I can
Plus once they're walking
holy moly
With him being sick, all he wants to do is nurse
Kind of makes the weening hard
How do you tell a sick baby no?

On to Colton.....
For any readers who have not had the pleasure
of meeting my middlest in person-
He is so freaking cute!
However, he is putting me in potty training
HELL
Today he did go all day with out an accident
So tomorrow he will probably have 4 and poop twice
That's how it goes
He just doesn't seem to care

And Connor...
4 (and a half)
with an attitude of a 14 year old
He is reading
or has the stories memorized
not sure which
but either way I am super proud
He won't eat anything unless it comes with a happy meal toy
And is yelling a lot
Oh gosh, wonder where he learned that?
whoops

Can't forget Mark...
He painted the wet bar today
And I must say, I'm pretty impressed
It looks great!
He also wins HOTY award
He bought me a new washer and dryer today
I had to be a total bitch all weekend to get it
Now I have to eat, sleep, and dream laundry

Finally me...
I'm tired
Chris has been waking up at night, several times
Today I couldn't fall back to sleep
Hopefully I will sleep well tonight
I redboxed SATC2 last night
I had a solo girls night
It was good
Tomorrow is a new week and I am looking forward to it
Gonna work on all my "deeds"
you know-
working out, eating good, cleaning, laundry
all the fun stuff
No school tomorrow though
YAY!
I actually prefer no school days
how sad is that
Still seriously considering taking Colton out of his Monday school

Here's to a better mood
toodles

Colton Lee

December 27, 2007
7:59am
Best Day of My Life
well one of two at that point
God blessed me with my Colton Lee

He amazes me more and more
EVERY.
SINGLE.
DAY.

Seriously
I'm not just saying that
This is the learning phase
Buckling himself up
Snapping his pants
Pooping in the potty
Picking up his toys
Putting together a puzzle

I am so excited to experience the 3's with him
(anything is better than his 2's)

I love this little guy for
 his smile
 his loving hugs
the way he picks his nose
and then hands me his booger
and his hair
(he got the good hair)

He is the best big and little brother

Now if only I could get him to sleep past 5am
things would be great

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
COLTON

Doctor Reports

Had to go to the doctor today
Me
(well not me, but I drove)
Christian
and
Spider Man

Christian insisted on squeezing into the photo himself

So first....
let me address the spidey issue
We eat, sleep, and breathe super heros at my house lately
The Batman costume we had for Halloween does not really fit
But good thing this 2 year old SM costume is still in 1 piece
It is worn daily
And often all day long
EVERY WHERE
ALL DAY
It doesn't bother me
I think it's rather cute
Mark disagrees
He doesn't really think it should be worn in public
You have to pick your battles
I always say
And clothing is not one fight I choose to have

At least now I know what I think my little man will be receiving for his birthday
that's right....
new costumes

So on to the well check ups
Colton's-3 year
Christian's 1 year

Both are healthy and mostly happy
I can't remember exact numbers
only a few hours later
and this dumbass doctor doesn't write it down for you
(more on that subject in a bit)
Colton was 31-ish pounds?
and 35 inches tall?
I do remember saying
"you're almost 3 feet tall"
My short boys
Barely in the 20th percentile
Whatever the hell those mean anyway
Got him some new cream for his eczema
poor baby
And he did suggest some benedryl at night if he has been itchy
Score!
Gave him some of the pink liquid already tonight
He should be asleep
with in 5 more minutes

Christian was 20 pounds
and 29 inches
or so I'm guessing
He looked great
But had to get 4 shots
But my trooper
Cries for all of 8 seconds
until I say to him
"it's all over"
And that was it
He was done
Last time he didn't even cry

I really do thank God every day for my healthy boys
My non sleeping, still boob eating, crazy talking, web slinging, fighting over toys
BOYS
Wouldn't trade 'em for anything
(But I would really really love 1 night's sleep)

Ok so on to the doctor subject
I am not sold on this pediatrician I found here
When we first moved here
I got a couple of names from some moms off of "mamasource"
He was actually the only one who would meet with me
Seriously
no one would meet you first unless you are prego
WTH?
He seemed really nice
I mean he is nice, it's not like he's some a-hole
But we come from the BEST doctor
EVER
Seriously
If you live in DFW, any where
he is worth the drive
Dr. Berkowitz of
Pediatric Specialist of Plano

In fact
I am thinking of making the 4 hour drive myself
Is that stupid
Keep him for well check ups
And find someone here for when the boys are sick?
Is that not letting go of Texas?
Or not embracing OK?

Anyway....
This new doctor
His office is all electronic
He does not walk in with a file
There is no taking notes
He is typing
ANNOYING
And he does not give near a thorough exam
I had to ask him to check Christian's balls
He had a cyst when he was a few months old
And the urologist said it could come back
But that our pediatrician would check it and know
Well, you can't know if you don't check
Dr. B always checked that sort of thing anyway
Obviously
he found the cyst
But today I had to ask
New dr would have known
had he read Chris' file
The file I paid $25 to have copied
And then gave to him
needless to say
I did not hand over Colton's file

I came in with my list of questions
Like I always do
Because I have to write everything down
Or my little mind tends to forget
Nothing major
Silly things like
How can I get this 12 month old to sleep all night
or
how can I get this almost 3 year old to
NOT come into my room at night

The questions you know the answer to
But love to hear it from a pro

So you know what he says to me
"It'll get better"
If I wanted an answer like that
I would have talked to the hubs
HA

If I had taken that same list into Dr. B's office
I would have left with a plethora of information
Lots of new ideas to try
and a
"call me in a week if this doesn't work"

Dr. B talks to the kids
For a 3 year check up
He would have been asking
what color is this, how high can you count
NOTHING
that's what I got out of new dr

So I hate to keep taking the boys to new people
I guess I really lucked out with Dr. B
But with in 2 minutes of interviewing him when I was prego
I knew he was the one

I also new with in our first appointment
for Chris' 9 month checkup
that new dr was NOT the one
But I gave him another try
Now I really know

So there is my doctor rant
I feel better now!

On a funnier note
Here is our SC visit photo

We look like such a happy family huh?
He hates being away from me
I secretly like it

Guess where I went today
Go ahead say it out loud
You know the answer
That's right
TARGET
I needed diapers and cheese
$75 later
WTH?
$30 covered my 2 needed items
I grabbed very few grocery items to get us through the next couple of days
It costs an arm and freaking leg to eat
Next year I WILL get this under control

That's all I've got for now

Boy Talk

This is going to be a new segment
Obviously entitled
"BOY TALK"
It is going to be a way for me to keep record
of the lovelies my boys say
to me and to each other
It may not all be funny
or entertaining to you
But
it's not really about you now is it?

Con-mommy, this house smells like old lady
(nice because he is referring to our house)

At the dinner table:
Colton-I put dis poopy in de potty?
me-what? (as Mark and I eye each other, thinking did we hear this right)
Colton-I put dis poopy in de potty?
me-sure
And he comes around the table holding his poop
Mark and I can't stop laughing long enough to help the poor kid
Hey, at least he cleans up after himself

In the car driving home from the grocery store
Just me and Connor
He is rambling something about a hospital
And before I can get the answer to his bazaar question out of my mouth
He has moved on
Connor-I'm not gonna have a mommy and kids
Me-you're not
Con-no
Me-Well don't you want a wife?
Con-Well you can just come over
Me-umm, ok. But don't you want kids?
Con-no. What do you call someone with out a wife or kids
Me-A bachelor
Con-OH ok, well I guess I will have a wife and 4 boys and 4 girls. Did you know that makes 8?
Me-Yeah, good math. But that's alot of kids
Con-Ok, I'll just have 2 boys and 2 girls. That makes 4
Me-OK
Con-And I might not live next door. I might just live down the street in one of those houses with a pool
Me-Well we can get a pool put in
Con-Well I don't know how to make a pool
Me-Well we can hire someone to build it
Con-OK then I can live next door to you

WOW! I am glad that that is settled!!!!

Happy Saturday

Just a Quick Update

Good news
for sure not chicken pox

Bad news
still no idea what it is

Christian still is covered in bumps
and I mean there are well over 50
yes I have tried counting
 but they are fading

I am beginning to wonder if it is some sort of weird bug bites
I think this because they look like that
big and red
and they are not on his stomach or back
which is always covered by a onsie

So today I am washing everything in HOT water

He still has diarrhea-5 days now
Maybe it is related
or not?
who knows
But that shit stinks!!!!
LITERALLY

Still not in a major posting mood
Dont' know why

But I am definitely making my poster today
Kid for sale
Free kid

Movie Night and A Day of Dates

Decided to have family movie night on Friday
I had recorded Ratatouille and we had yet to watch it
So we picked up a pizza
and popped some popcorn
and had a good night

Hello Cheek-y

My sweet, precious Colton is certainly in the
TERRIBLE 2'S
Between that and the new baby brother
and daddy being gone for 6 months and
the move here
and our lack of a schedule during summer....
he is not sleeping well and biting
and just being a holy terror

So I thought a little one on one time would be nice

I gave him 3 choices
the dinosaur museum, putt-putt, or the zoo
and in that order
I was really pushing the (indoor) museum
But my boy choose the zoo

We enjoyed the water feature in the children's section
just the 2 of us
barefoot and holding hands thru the running stream

We saw some other mommy's and babies

Then we went to visit our gorilla Big Mamma

There she is looking sad as usual
Wonder why we call everyone "Big Mamma"?
Anyway, the zoo keeper was there taking her notes on the gorillas activities
And we got to learn some little tidbits about our friend

BM is actually 47 or 48 years old and came from Africa
She is the mother of 8 and nursed all her babies
That explains the droopy boobs and sad face
She is the grandmother of the youngest one (6) in their living area
Gorillas in captivity live to around 50
She had her last baby at 41, which is very late in Gorilla years
The zookeeper also said Big Mamma was a very good name for her

So there is your animal lesson for the day folks!!!

WTH
Who took all the leaves from the bottom branches

So our time together at the zoo was nice
and HOT
and short

We headed to Chic-fil-A for lunch and were still home by noonish for nap

That afternoon Mark and Connor went to the movies
and then they camped out in the basement that night

As much as I love family time and always want to encourage group activities
The boys really thrive when they are seperated
Perhaps I have treated them more like twins than I should have?
If you ask Colton how old he is
He will tell you 4
And he believes it

Sunday we all went to try the "best" Mexican restaurant in town
We don't typically go to non-fast food places with all of us
Not that our boys are bad
They use table manners and we try to time it right
But it is often a beating
I know some of you other moms know what I am talking about
As the mom, you don't really get to enjoy the food or being served
You have to keep knives out of the way
or drinks from being spilled
or feed babies
or make sure food gets into the right tummies

But it was GREAT food
and everyone was truly on their best behavior
The best part....
it is literally right down the street
Well worth the effort

So there was my weekend
Life with Boys
is fun
(most of the time)
